Topics of the correspondence include the publication of Werfel's poems in Kraus's journal Die Fackel; Werfel's response to Kraus's suggestions about his poems and, later, his reaction to Kraus's gloss (published in Die Fackel) on Werfel's adaptation of Die Troerinnen; Werfel's response to Kraus's speech on Nestroy; and their relationship generally. 1 item comprises photocopies of 5 pieces by Kraus related to Werfel, published in Die Fackel ("Der Atem der Weltgeschischte," Nr. 426-430, 15. Also included is an issue of Forum, Vienna, June 1956, containing several articles about Kraus, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death, including reminiscences by Kurt Wolff, who mentions Werfel's urging him to meet Kraus, in 1912-1913. Kurt Wolff had been Franz Werfel's publisher from 1912 to 1923. Helen Wolff (née Mosel) was Kurt's second wife. Helen and Kurt were good friends of Alma Mahler and Franz Werfel.
